BUIDING AS AN OBJECT OF TRANSPARENCY

ALTERING PERCEPTION THROUGH SPACE

The project Transparenz: Dispositives of Perception is an architectural exercise on transparency, aiming to explore human's perception of reality through space. The concept is firstly born from the design of experiential gogles, as, in this project, our visual senses were determined as primary filtering tools of our perceptive reality, capable of shaping, fragmenting and altering contextual appearences. Based on the permises of designing wereable perception  and exploring architecture as extended intelligence, the creation of these (anti)reality  glasses was, posteriorly, translated into architectural spaces, which resulted in the development of three diferent rooms: 1. Exhibition room, Aristotles «De Caelo et Mundo»; 2. Projection room, Schopenhauer «Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung»; 3. Performance room, Kant «Transzendentale  Asthetik».

The building functions as a set of filtering and alienating narratives: the entrance is made through a dark concrete corridor, detaching the individual from its surroundings, cleaning the visual mind, so that, when entering the three atmospheric spaces, a more surrealistic and immersive experience is attained.
