Research on Speculative Systems

Pangea Erotica is a sound-based research project developed as a podcast episode for Radio Relativa, exploring the intimacies of friction between tectonic plates. The project examines geological collision as a sensorial and relational process, translating seismic phenomena into sonic abstraction.

Grounded in the scientific phases of tectonic movement, the research analyzed frequencies, vibrations, and temporal patterns of plate friction. These parameters informed the creation of a curated playlist structured as a sonic choreography, where each stage of an earthquake becomes an auditory encounter: contact, pressure, rupture, and transformation.

Developed as part of the Institute for Postnatural Studies (PIP’25) program, Pangea Erotica frames sound as a medium for reimagining planetary relations, positioning geological desire and proximity as forces that reshape human and more-than-human coexistence.
