SOMAERKE

2015-2021

BUILT/ONGOING RESEARCH

PUBLIC ARTWORK

REGARDING PARAMETRIC STRUCTURES

IN COLABORATION W/ KWY.STUDIO

Somaerke is an ongoing research on geometry and parametric design, born from a theoretical and formal analysis on Danish sea markers: between 1884 to 1885, the maritime commission of Denmark erected 25 wodden structures as a way to minimize catastrophes at sea, placing them in strategic locations to warn sailors about underwater hidden topography through simple, visual syntax of fixed coordinates - their shapes stood as a system of probabilities, each dictating levels of danger in iconic form.  While at KWY.studio I collaborated on this ongoing formal research.

Role on the project: Designer, researcher
Tasks:  Exploring new designs to be implemented through parametric design (grasshopper)
