My practice engages with speculative design to explore the agency of matter. It interrogates how non-living components of ecosystems—such as soil, water, and air—can be reframed as active participants in the post-natural world, entangled with human and non-human processes alike. At the heart of this inquiry lies an Alchemist Manifesto, which reimagines materials and tools as ecosystem enhancers, shifting their purpose from human-centered to ecologically-driven. Rooted in posthumanist perspectives from thinkers like Karen Barad and Jane Bennett, my recent projects focus on the development of biophilia toolkits— tools that facilitate empathic interactions between humans and abiotic systems, encouraging sustainable and harmonious relationships with the surrounding ecosystem. Instead prioritizing permanence and durability, this approach recognizes tool as part of its materials lifecycles, where decay and transformation are fundamental to their function. These works are grounded in speculative design and material research, driven by a commitment to fostering ecological care.
